Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford was born in the United States. Ashford is an actor, singer and dancer. The first Broadway parts are Wicked Legally Blonde & Hair. She was awarded an award from the Tony Award for Best Featured actor in the Play to play Essie Carmichael from You Can't Take It With You. Tony Award-winning actress Annaleigh Ashford has spent the majority of her career collaborating with acclaimed directors and actors across the stage, film and TV and she will continue that project with various upcoming ones. Ashford will next be seen in the role of Kumail Nanjiani on the Hulu limited series Welcome to Chippendales from creator Robert Siegel premiering on November 22. Ashford has been engaged in the production of Searchlight Pictures' horror film Dust which stars Sarah Paulson alongside Ebon and Moss Bachrach. This film is an Hulu Original and will be streamed on Disney DTC. In March of 2023 Ashford returns to Broadway and star opposite Josh Groban in the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. The group behind Hamilton producers Jeffrey Seller and director Thomas Kail will be at helm of the production. Ashford was most recently seen in the role of Paula Jones in Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment. The series is based on the National Crisis which put Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp in the middle of the first impeachment proceeding in America in Over a Century. Two seasons ago, Ashford was a star of CBS's hit comedy B Positive. The show was created by Marco Pennette and Chuck Lorre the show also starred famous performers Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen.No stranger to Broadway Ashford won the Tony Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her portrayal of Essie in You Can't Take It with You. She has also appeared in Broadway in Sunday in the Park With George Wicked, Legally Blonde in addition to the original part of Lauren in Kinky Boots for which she was nominated for the Tony Award. Ashford was born and raised in Denver and now divides her life between Los Angeles, and New York.
